Of course my very first earned Producer (Associate) credit had to be on a short film with a monster in it. I mean, what’s a UCLA thesis film without a guy in a rubber suit?
My first collaboration with Dave Fennoy, this short film was ambitious, and I worked on it while working full-time on the Disney backlot as an assistant in the Wardrobe department. The Writer/Director, Sandy Collora, funding it all himself, decided to shoot on Super35mm – which meant a full anamorphic post process. An ana-what?
Yes, that was my response too.
By the time all was said and done, I learned a lot about filmmaking the old school way; right before everything started to go digital (which I’m a huge proponent of).
